Older Region Newsletters Now Online

We are please to announce that most of the older, hardcopy newsletters of the Region have been scanned, and are now available for download! There are a few missing issues, but most of the newsletters from 1993 to 2002 can be downloaded from this link. They are in PDF format in a ZIP archive. Virtually all of today's computers will handle these file types automatically, but if you have any problems there is abundant information to help you on the web.

Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy cordially invites you to Pemberley…

Our Region's April 2019 Program, called "A Weekend House Party at Pemberley" is an exciting afternoon and evening program. Have you ever wondered what a country house party would have been like in Regency times? Here's your chance to spend a day finding out! Before Mr. Darcy met Elizabeth Bennett, he was the bachelor master of Pemberley, a beautiful Georgian estate. Details of the program are on this page, where you can register for the event using PayPal. There is also information about paying by check if you prefer.

Jane Austen Essay Competition — Results Announced

To foster the study and appreciation of Jane Austen, the Jane Austen Society of Puget Sound regional organization recently held an essay contest for high-school and university students. The regional members who love and enjoy Jane Austen's books were the audience for the essays. We wanted to know what the high school and higher level student finds compelling about Jane Austen's writings and were looking for original insights, captivating writing, a genuine voice and an essay of clear and correct writing. The winners have been chosen, and you can find the results on this page.

About Our Region

The Puget Sound Region of the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA) is located in the Puget Sound region of Western Washington.

We are a very active region, and meet six times each year at various locations to hear a program, to engage in polite conversation and partake of afternoon tea. Naturally, the subject of the meetings is always related to the life, times and works of Jane Austen.
